Dexing Kong

Dexing Kong is a distinguished “Qiu Shi” professor and doctoral supervisor of Zhejiang University, the director of the Applied Mathematics Institute of Zhejiang University, the director of the Image Processing Research and Development Center of the School of Science of Zhejiang University, the chairman of the Mathematical Medicine Association in Zhejiang province, the chairman of the Digital Graphic Image Association in Henan province, the founder of the Union of Mathematical Imaging (UMI), a visiting professor of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army General Hospital (the 301 Military Hospital in Beijing), a visiting professor of the National Defense University of Science and Technology in China, a visiting professor of Henan University, a visiting professor of the Northumbria University in Britain, the vice chairman of the Committee of the China Ordnance Society on Applied mathematics, the deputy dean of the Big Data and Artificial Intelligence Research Institute in Xi’an as well as the co-chairman of the 156th Shuangqing Forum held by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, a committee number of the Academic Committee of the Digital Medicine and Computer-aided Surgery Laboratory, a provincial key laboratory in Shandong province, etc.
He was a visiting scientist of the International Center for Theoretical Physics (in Italy), a special research fellow of Japan Society for Promotion Science, a guest professor of the City University of Hong Kong, a visiting professor of the Einstein Institute in Germany, a visiting scholar of the Courant Mathematics Institute at New York University in USA, a postdoctoral fellow of Harvard University. In 2012, he entered the First Level Personnel Development Program of the “151 Talents Project” in Zhejiang province and he also won the Best Scientific Paper Award of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR) in 2012 and the second prize of the Science and Technology Award in Zhejiang province in 2011. He was selected to participate in Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University Supported by the Ministry of Education and Shanghai Rising-Star Program.

He has published more than 120 academic theses in some international famous academic journals, a monograph in English by Japanese Mathematical Society, a monograph in Chinese by Science Press, a graduate textbook and an undergraduate textbook by Higher Education Press. He has already applied for 22 national invention patents (6 of them have been granted and 16 of them are being announced) and 3 software copyrights. He has undertaken several National Natural Science Foundation projects, including the Major Research Plan Integration Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and some Science and Technology Projects including the Major Science and Technology Projects in Zhejiang province.
